What bizarre urge causes Network People to look at a successful show and think, "Let's just change this around a bit!"   ...Wouldn't it perhaps be more logical to wait till the show is broken before "fixing" it?

I watched the last episode of season 3 (Criminal Minds) yesterday. Then I made mental lists of which of the characters I could spare, and which were utter deal breakers if they got killed off.
